Solicitor mortgages advice is always welcome to anyone purchasing or selling a property, whether you are a first time buyer or you have done it many times in the past. Don’t forget to ask your solicitor any questions you may have and don’t act until you are satisfied with the answers.
There are some myths that seem to prevail about conveyancing and conveyancing solicitors – as with anything that it not known too much about – but now is the time to explain the truth. The first long-held idea about conveyancing is that it takes a long time. It is true that in the past, mortgage solicitors did not have a streamlined way of working, and conveyancing certainly could take many, many months.
However, if you do your research and find a conveyancer who is experienced and competent, then the entire process could take as little as six to 12 weeks. Another myth is that once you have engaged your solicitor, they will be impossible to get hold of. If you pick a company that has many different conveyancers or conveyancers working in teams then yes, it could be difficult. But if you choose one that offers you a dedicated case worker who you can ask for by name, then you will always be able to contact them directly.
Finally, there is a myth that you have to use your estate agent’s preferred conveyancer. Whilst this can sometimes be a good idea, it is your right to shop around if you prefer to find your own conveyancer – this can save you a lot of money.
